Pack 4084F follows and abides by all the policies of the BSA and Mount Baker Council.
Parent Participation
- The success of the pack depends on YOU. There are many opportunities to be involved.
- Plan to invest one hour of time in addition to the time your Scout spends in weekly meetings. You should go over your Scouts rank book and keep up with the activities of the den.
- Ask about homework assignments and help your Scout follow through in completing the work. This time also includes reading and replying to emails from the Pack.
Communication
- Our primary way of communicating Pack information is via email.
- The Pack has a Website and a Facebook page where we share information about upcoming activities etc. The Pack website will not feature all event information due to privacy, so emails will still convey details for the upcoming events.
- Every family will receive a pack roster. If you do not understand something, need more information or have a scouting question please call your Den Leader or the Cub Master or the Committee Chair.
Behavior Policy
- Pack 4084F aims to cultivate character and learning for our Scouts and to maintain a culture where all are treated with respect and dignity.
- All Cub Scouts, Parents and Leaders are asked to follow the Scout Oath and Law.
Finances
- The pack treasurer(s) oversee all pack finances under the direction of Committee Chair.
- No youth shall be denied participation in scouting due to financial reasons.
- The pack pays for Leader’s and committee member’s registration. They are encouraged to reimburse the Pack for this cost if they are able.
- To be reimbursed, receipts must be submitted to the CC and approved by committee.
- The pack treasurer will give monthly reports to the pack committee and leaders.
- Pack finances shall be audited once a year.
Advancement
- Den Leaders are responsible for tracking their den’s advancement utilizing Scoutbook.
- Advancement reports are to be turned into the Advancement Chair one week before the pack award meeting.
- Cub Scouts may earn belt loops and pins more than once (but only once per year/rank). The pack provides the belt loops and pins.
- Advancement reports are accepted from Den Leaders only. Parents may put advancement items into Scoutbook to be approved by their Den Leader.
- Advancement work done outside of the pack is to be reported to and discussed with the Den Leader for recognition.
Training
- Youth Protection Training must be done on line before registration is accepted.
- All leaders are to complete the required training within two months of registration. All the required training is available online.
- The pack pays for Leaders who attend additional trainings associated with their position that have a fee associated with it.
- If the pack pays for your training it is expected that you will use that training to benefit the pack.
Activities, Overnight Camp-ins and Pack Campouts
- BSA policies regarding alcohol and tobacco are to be followed.
- If a Cub Scout is attending a Pack activity or Camp in without a parent/guardian, the parent/guardian is responsible for finding a chaperon within the pack. Assistance may be provided by the pack if requested. The Parent(s) must fill out a Permission slip for the designated chaperon to take with the scout.
- The parent or chaperon is responsible to supervise the Scout at all times during the Activity, Overnight Camp-in and Pack Campouts.
- Pack Campouts require a parent/guardian to attend with the Cub Scout (even if they are attending just for the day). Pack Campouts also are for family members of the scout. The parent/guardian or designated chaperon is responsible for the Scout even if you are just attending for the day. The Parent(s) must fill out a Permission slip for the designated chaperon to take with the Scout.
- All persons attending Overnight Camps and Pack Campouts are required to provide a BSA Health Form A and B. These are kept filed and updated every calendar year.
