Activities

There are a lot of great reasons to join Scouting, but planning fun activities is what gets scouts engaged and keeps them coming back.

Pack Meetings

At our regular pack meetings, scouts typically work on Cub Scout Adventures which are specific to their age group and help them earn their current rank (eg Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo, or Arrow of Light). You can learn more about Adventures here, and all Adventures for your scouts age group are detailed in their handbook as well.

Scouts have fun with their Den and get a chance to learn new skills and projects. Scouts also receive belt loops or pins at our Blue & Gold and end-of-year Awards ceremonies to help recognize their effort.

Outdoor Activities

Our pack hosts an average of one outdoor event every month, and sometimes more in the summer months.

Some classic weekend outings include:

  • Hikes at Washington Park, Cranberry Lake, Heart Lake, and more locations across Skagit County
  • Hiking & exploring the Heritage Flight Museum in Burlington

Cub Scout Summer Camp

Our Mount Baker Council offers a number of summer day camp options for Cub Scouts. Our pack typically chooses a particular camp that most families attend, and scouts are welcome to attend other camp dates as well.

Family Camping Trip & Cub Scout Adventure Day

Every year our pack has our annual family camping trip at Fire Mountain Scout Camp to coincide with Cub Scout Adventure Day on the first Saturday of October.

Scout families arrive Saturday and get to complete a bunch of fun activities like archery, BB guns, fishing, hiking, crafts, field sports, bouldering, and much more. Then pack families are invited to camp overnight. Siblings are parents are welcome.

Special Events

Aside from our pack meetings and outdoor activities, our pack plans a number of repeat annual events alongside new events each year.

  • Our annual Popcorn Sales fundraising every fal, which helps fund all of our Pack events for the program year
  • Blue & Gold Awards Ceremony in February/March
  • Pinewood Derby in March
  • Our End of Year Awards Ceremony every June

Service Projects

Helping our community is a core value of Scouting. Our Pack hosts a number of recurring annual service projects, such as:

  • Delivering cookies & baked goods to Anacortes Police & Fire Departments every December
  • Marching in the Anacortes 4th of July and Christmas Parades
  • Annual Beach Cleanup at Seafarer’s Memorial Park every June
  • Participating in Scout Sunday at Anacortes Lutheran Church every February
  • Additional projects like landscaping and cleaning at The Anacortes Family Center
